2. Pack your kit right:
This point causes an argument in itself. I used to spend a whole day before I flew packing my gear correctly making sure no part of my boards were deprived of bubble wrap. However, when you start thinking about it if your board is going to be run over by a plane then a bit of bubble wrap isn’t going to put up much resistance, but on the other hand it is going to help with small dings and scrapes. Although if you take into account that all your kit is covered in protection your bags are going to look double the size and in doing so give the impression that they are double the weight, plus it means you take up space which otherwise could be filled with another sail. So, personally I’d say it is more important to get yourself a decent, well padded board bag which has space for sails which in turn act as protection for the board. On top of this always remember to remove your footstraps, double roll your sails (two magically appear as one!) and always put your boom on top of sails (if all your kit is going in the same bag) to avoid clamp-shape dents in your gear.
