5. Know your rules:
Propping your kit up with your leg when on the scales will only get you so far so have a REALLY good look at the rules of the airline you are flying with and do it long before you roll into the departure lounge. Check the rules on excess baggage as you may need to contact the airline or at the very least (even if they’re windsurfing friendly) it is always worth printing out the policy in case you come across the not so rare, moody check in staff.
