BWA – Quick Fire with the Pros & VOTE For Your Winner

John Skye is one of the best all-round sailors on the tour, but can he take the title in 2014?

Are you going?

YES

What fleet are you competing in?

Not sure if masters or Pros, but I think they moved the masters to 40+, so not quite there yet.

What equipment are you taking?

3 board, 5 sails, 1 surf board, 1 sup. In more detail:

92, 83, 75 RRD Wave Cult’s. 5.7, 5.3, 4.7, 4.2, 4.0 RRD Fours. RRD 5’11 Frustona surf. RRD 8.0 Cosmo Sup

What conditions are you hoping for?

Good conditions. I would like it to be over shoulder high and then I am happy. Port or starboard tack. onshore or offshore.

How have you been preparing/training for the events?

Mainly by testing slalom sails! I have had a few OK days at Pozo in the last couple of weeks to at least brush the cobwebs off my wavesailing.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

I think my strengths are that I can sail all conditions equally. My weakness is that if Rhossy goes off, it’s very hard to get past the local boys Phil and Ben. I think I lost to them every time in Wales.

Who’s your biggest rival?

Phil and Ben are traditionally the ones I watch for, but now Ross is competing I imagine he will be very hard to beat. There are also Jamie Hancock and Adam Lewis if they show up.

What position finish are you aiming for?

1st for sure, but it will be tricky I think.
